Devon is a mixture of historic towns and seaside
resorts, attracting large numbers of holiday makers. It
is the only county that has two separate coastlines. On
the South coast, also known as the heritage Coast, is
the major port and town of Plymouth. The city of Exeter
is steeped in history, with the cathedral as its
centrepiece. Areas of outstanding natural beauty are the
wild, untamed Dartmoor National Park and part of Exmoor
National Park. The North Coast is often referred to as
the Jurassic coast based on geological finds. Other
major towns located in Devon are Barnstaple, Bideford
and Oakhampton. |
